Nepal traditional food

Nepalese cuisine refers to the food eaten in Nepal. Nepal's cultural and geographic diversity has resulted in a variety of cuisines based upon ethnicity and on soil and climate.

The subtropical character of the latter allows for intensive agriculture, including rice, lentils, corn, wheat and potatoes are the main productions.

Strongly Vegetarian, Nepalese cuisine is based on the use of rice and lentils. It borrows both, Indian and Tibetan food traditions, whose influence dates back to the Middle Ages.

Culture in Nepal

Nepalese culture embraces diverse cultures belonging to more than 120 distinct ethnic groups present in Nepal. The culture of Nepal is expressed through the arts: music, painting, wood and stone sculpture and dance. This is why craftsmanship is important. The Nepalese speak different languages and dialects. The isolation of the valleys and villages has saved multitudes of dialects and thus a great cultural richness. But the Nepalese get up every morning with religion. The important mixture of religions is main facet of culture through its festivals, celebrations and folklore.
