10 Days Ski Backcountry / Ski Touring in Kyrgyzstan

This discovery takes you in the western part of the country, where you will be able to explore the power line from Bishkek to Osh though the Ferghana valley.  You will be able to see and ski a mixture of landscapes and snow conditions.  Don’t forget to invite your friends on such an adventure!

Program

D 1 / Arrival in Bishkek and City Tour

  • Your driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to a guesthouse in Bishkek City.
  • You will be able to rest after a long flight.
  • After everyone is rested it’s mandatory that everyone shows their insurance cards and their mandatory safety equipment.
  • After completing the safety check you will be able to enjoy a walking tour of Bishkek.
  • Bishkek is known for being a city full of parks and many green spaces.
  • Before dinner your guide will take you to a panoramic point above the city to see a great view of the snowy mountains and the city.
  • Dinner at Faiza Café where you will be able to enjoy many traditional dishes.

 

D 2 / Bishkek to Suusamyr

  • After an early breakfast you head south west to Suusamyr valley.
  • Once you reach the Too-Ashuu mountain pass of 3500m you will be able to enjoy the panoramic view of the Suusamyr valley.
  • Arrival in Suusamyr 3120m where you will be able rest and get acclimated to your new base camp.
  • Suusamyr is a paradise for skiers looking for big turns and deep powder.
  • Suusamyr has it’s own type of unique snow, sugar flakes.
  • You will scout out the possible locations for touring for the next days.
  • Dinner at the base camp where you will be accommodated.

D 3 / Ski Touring in Suusamyr

  • After an early breakfast, you will gear up and head into the mountains.
  • First check to make sure everyone has all of their safety equipment and check the condition of the snow and then make a plan for the day.
  • The rest of the day will be spent in the mountains.
  • Lunch in the mountains.
  • At the end of the day head back to the base camp where dinner will be ready.

D 4 / Second day freeskiing at Suusamyr

  • After an early breakfast, you will gear up and head into the mountains.
  • First check to make sure everyone has all of their safety equipment and check the condition of the snow and then make a plan for the day.
  • The rest of the day will be spent in the mountains.
  • Lunch in the mountains.
  • At the end of the day head back to the base camp where dinner will be ready.

D 5 / Third day ski touring in Suusamyr

  • After an early breakfast you will gear up and head into the mountains.
  • First check to make sure everyone has all of their safety equipment and check the condition of the snow and then make a plan for the day.
  • The rest of the day will be spent in the mountains.
  • Lunch in the mountains.
  • At the end of the day head back to the base camp where dinner will be ready.

D 6 / Suusamyr to Arslanbob

  • Today you will say goodbye to your hosts in Suusamyr and take the long drive to Arslanbob.
  • You will be able to see the Naryn River with it’s turquoise colors.
  • Then you will enter the Ferghana Valley before you head into the world's largest walnut forests in Arslanbob.
  • Arslanbob is an amazing place for skiing and for getting to know the Uzbek population there.
  • Once you arrive you will meet your horses which will take you to a simple alpine hut called Jaz-Jarim where you will spend the night.

D 7 / Ski Touring in Arslanbob

  • After an early breakfast you will gear up and head into the mountains.
  • First check to make sure everyone has all of their safety equipment and check the condition of the snow and then make a plan for the day.
  • The rest of the day will be spent in the mountains.
  • Lunch in the mountains.
  • At the end of the day head back to the base camp where dinner will be ready for you. Or back to the village.

D 8 / Ski touring in Arslanbob

  • Après le petit déjeuner, vous vous préparerez et vous vous dirigerez vers les montagnes.
  • Assurez-vous d'abord que tout le monde ait son équipement de sécurité et vérifiez l'état de la neige, puis on planifie  la journée.
  • Le reste de la journée sera passé dans les montagnes.
  • Déjeuner dans les montagnes.
  • À la fin de la journée, retour au camp de base et le dîner.

D 9 / Arslanbob to Osh

  • After breakfast, your horseman will bring you down to the village of Arslanbob.
  • Leaving Arslanbob you will be transferred, one of the oldest cities in Kyrgyzstan.
  • On the way you will have lunch in the village of Uzgen where you will be able to visit a minaret and 3 mausoleums from the 10th century.
  • Osh is over 3000 years old and you will be able to see the highlights from the silk road in Osh.

D 10 / Osh flight home

  • After breakfast you will be able to discover the city of Osh or fly back home. Everything depends on the time of your flight back home.
  • This day is created to give people flexibility for their flights home.
  • Here at Nomad's Land we hope you enjoyed your tour and come back to Kyrgyzstan in the summer.

Remarks:

Since July 27, 2012, the visa is not any more required for the persons of Swiss, EU, US, Canadian and Japanese nationalities (in total 44 new countries, for more information visit nomadsland.kg); passport should be with minimum of 6 months validity for period of 60 days maximum. Vaccination is not mandatory.

This is a draft program. It can be changed due to changes of flight schedules, safetely reasons, weather conditions and others imponderable or unforeseen conditions. Only our tour guide is authorized to take the necessary decisions. Prices are calculated daily and are subject to change in case of wide fluctuations in prices or exchange rates.

Though Kyrgyzstan evidenced caravans over 3000 years it is still a young developing country and infrastructure of villages is not at a very high level. Refusing hospitality might be offensive and in order to avoid misunderstanding one had better to read some guidebooks and other books about Kyrgyzstan before getting prepared to visit.
