Program

Manas International Airport

D 1 / Manas International Airport - Karion Zil Suluu Tor

Once you arrive at the Manas International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and the adventure will start. You will be transferred to your guesthouse where you can take a rest after your long flight. After lunch, you will be transferred to the Zil ski resort where you can start skiing or snowboarding. Accommodation at the Zil ski resort.

D 2 / Bishkek - Toktogul

Road to the south of Kyrgyzstan. We drive through a tunnel at 3580m. A stroll will welcome nearly Tunnel. Suite drive by car, down to the upper Suusamyr valley, situated between 2500 and 2800 m. Large green space dominated by the yurts and herds of horses. At the end of the day we arrive at Toktogul, a large village on the edge of a large dam Toktogul. Overnight guest house.

D 3 / Toktogul - Arslanbob village

Transfer to Arslanbob. Driving up to the Toktogul Dam. Picnic on the shore of the reservoir. then getting to the canyon raising over the Naryn River. On the main highway Osh-Bishkek drive to the Fergana Valley. Dinner in Djalal - Abad. Setting off for great walnut forests. Visiting a small waterfall sacred for local people. Overnight in homestay.

D 4 / Arslanbob village - Osh

To the West, cotton fields, the Fergana Valley welcomes us warm. Early departure of Arslanbob to Osh, Uzgen stop and visit of the minaret and mausoleums of the eleventh century. Then transfer to Osh. Visit of the city of Osh, the mausoleum of Babur and the throne of King Solomon. Overnight in guest house. Transfer time: 3h

Kodjo Kelen valley

D 5 / Osh - Kodjo Kelen valley

Early departure. 40 km of the road is paved, 60 km which is not paved. We pass near a dam named Papan. We walk along the river that feeds the Aral Sea. Arriving at the village of Kodjo Kelen for lunch time. Picnic in the nature. Stroll through the ocher cliffs. Back at the village. Dinner and overnight at homestay. Time of transfer: 3/4h Time of walk: 2 hours Vertical drop: 500m + Vertical Drop: - 500m

Sary Bel pass

D 6 / Kodjo Kelen valley - Kitchik-Alay

Morning departure of our great trek and walk to the plateau of Sary Bel Pass in a setting with a thousand colors.

Picnic in front of the Ming Teke peak which rises to 4114 m.

The afternoon small descent into the valley of Kosh-Moinok.

Setting up camp at the foot of Ming Teke. Overnight in tents.

Sary-Mogol northern

D 7 / Kitchik-Alay (Kosh-Moynok) - Kitchik-Alay (Sary-Mogol North)

The path climbs steeply amid rich vegetation towards the Koch-Moinok pass (3240m.). Descent overlooking the chain Kitchik-Alai to the weather station Kyzyl-Shara and visit the grave of Turoval. In the afternoon, we go up the Kitchik-Alai valley to valley Sary-Mogol (north). Overnight in tents.

Sary-Mogol pass

D 9 / Kitchik-Alay (at the foot of the pass Sary-Mogol) - Sary-Mogol lakes

In the morning, hike to the pass Sary-Mogol by a steep slope in the middle of scree that cross the Alaïski chain. This is the most difficult time of this trek. In the afternoon, we visit the large glacial cirque and lakes, then descend to the lake located on the banks of the lower lake. Overnight in tents. (On that day there will be change in porting team because horses do not cross the pass, grooms carry the luggage to the pass).

Tulpar-Kol's lake

D 11 / Sary-Mogol village - Tulpar-Kol lake

In the morning we pick up our bags from the car and steer our course to Lenin Peak, which reaches 7134 m. We will be close to the base camp of Lenin Peak. After lunch, we have time for a review of daily life of local shepherds, 3600m. Walk around the base camp. It is possible to continue your walk to the glaciers. Overnight in a yurt near the Lake Tulpar-Kul.

Sary Tash - peak Lenin

D 12 / Tulpar-Kol lake - Osh

In the morning we enjoy walking again towards winter farms at the bottom of our camp, where we go with our vehicle. Then drive to Osh.

D 13 / Osh - Kazarman

Drive to the city of Jalal Abad. Visit of the bazar. Then road to Kazarman via Kaldama pass 3062 m. alt.. The Kaldama pass opens and closes according to climatic conditions, but will soon be open year round.  Sequences: nut's forest; mountains views. Meeting with nomads to have some sequences. Arrival to Kazarman, a losted village in the middle of Kyrgyzstan. Installation in homestay. 

Moldo-Ashu pass

D 14 / Kazarman - Tash Doeboe (Song Kul)

Today we are going to the pearl of Central Asia, first curiosity of Kyrgyzstan, Tien-Shan jewels, lake Song-Kul. It is a paradise for the Kyrgyz shepherds they could preserve their ancestral life style. They go up to the mountain pastures in summer. The lake is at 3016m. And offers many activities for lovers of nature and vast spaces. We see many yurt with cattle, goats, and sheeps. We walk from yurt to yurt, to better discover the daily life of Kyrgyz families in the yurt. We observe life between man and horse, the harmony between humanity and nature. Overnight in yurt at the lake.

Boom

D 15 / Batay Aral (Song Kul) - Bishkek

We leave the Song Kul's lake driving up the Kalmak Ashuu pass, before to descend in the colorful valley of Tiulek. Most of shepherds of Tiulek are living from yak breeder. Then we arrive on the newest road linking Bishkek to the Torugart pass. We descend till Kochkor for lunch. In the afternoon, we drive through the Issyk Kul lake and Balikchi, the fishermen town situated on the west side of the lake. The road continue in the gorge of Boom part of the Chuy valley. (They are many options for this day : folk concert or wool show in Kochkor, walk in the Konorchek canyon, visit of the Burana tower, 2 hours rafting in the Chong Kemin or Chuy river, and more). Night in Bishkek in guesthouse.

Remarks:

Since July 27, 2012, the visa is not any more required for the persons of Swiss, EU, US, Canadian and Japanese nationalities (in total 44 new countries, for more information visit nomadsland.kg); passport should be with minimum of 6 months validity for period of 60 days maximum. Vaccination is not mandatory.

Though Kyrgyzstan evidenced caravans over 3000 years it is still a young developing country and infrastructure of villages is not at a very high level. Refusing hospitality might be offensive and in order to avoid misunderstanding one had better to read some guidebooks and other books about Kyrgyzstan before getting prepared to visit.
