2 days from Osh to Murgab by the M41 road.

This is one of the most exciting high road of Central Asia, driving through the highest road pass of the Pamir range with one night stop at Sary Mogol village in front of the Lenin peak, and join the Kyrgyz capital of the Tajik Pamir. (with your Tajik visa, you need also the GBAO permit)

Sary Tash - peak Lenin

D 1 / Osh - Sary-Mogol village

The road goes up slowly to the mountain situated at the South of Osh city, on the foot of the enormous range of Pamir. In the morning, we can visit the Gulsho hot springs water. The road goes now up into a canyon till the pass of Taldyk pass (3589m. alt.), then drive down to Sary Tash, stop for lunch on the way. The view opens slowly to the Pamir range marking the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Then we drive to Sary Mogol village. Free time in the village. Dinner and overnight in homestay.

Sary Tash - peak Lenin

D 2 / Sary-Mogol village - Murghab

Early morning, because we'll ride all day, we are in a border area before the passage of Kizil-Art pass at 4282m. customs and entry formalities at the Autonomous Oblast of Gorno-Badachstan. After the pass, the road descends to Lake Karakul, a huge lake located at 3914 meters above sea level that we go on the east before reaching the highest pass of the day, the Ak-Baytal over 4658 m. Then, the road skirts the massif Muzkoel which culminates at 6233 meters. This region is the poorest in Tajikistan where the majority Pamiris and Kyrgyz live. Remarks:

Since July 27, 2012, the visa is not any more required for the persons of Swiss, EU, US, Canadian and Japanese nationalities (in total 44 new countries, for more information visit nomadsland.kg); passport should be with minimum of 6 months validity for period of 60 days maximum. Vaccination is not mandatory.

Though Kyrgyzstan evidenced caravans over 3000 years it is still a young developing country and infrastructure of villages is not at a very high level. Refusing hospitality might be offensive and in order to avoid misunderstanding one had better to read some guidebooks and other books about Kyrgyzstan before getting prepared to visit.
