9 days active program in the Fan mountains region

A perfect program to discover the Fan mountains and region. This is an active program with some cultural visit like Pendjikent settlements.

D 1 / Dushanbe - Sarytag

In the morning, driving to Iskanderkul lake. Picnic at the shore lake. Lake of Aleksander, the biggest lake of the fan mountains. According to a legend, Alexander created the lake by damming the river in order to annihilate a village which has opposed him. In the surroundings of Iskanderkul lake, walking to 5 springs, to Zmeinoe lake and to the 38 meter high waterfall which is known as "Fan Niagara". Possibility to hike around the Hat of Alexander (2710 m, 10-12 km, 3-4 h) then back to Sarytag village for overnight at traditional homestay.

D 2 / Sarytag - Yagnob valley

After breakfast drive to Yagnob valley, Margeb village. A very old village which keeps custom and traditions of Sogdians! Mountaineering wall can be seen and short trek to that wall and its surroundings! Overnight in traditional homestay.

D 3 / Yagnob valley - Alauddin lakes

After breakfast, driving to some of the beautiful lakes in the Fan mountains, the Alauddin lakes (2780 m, 8-10 km, 3 h). Only braves can swim in that lakes! Short trek around the lakes and lake of Guitar. Dinner and overnight in the homestay.

D 4 / Alauddin lakes - Ancient settlement of Penjikent

After breakfast driving to Penjikent for sights. The ancient settlement, as well as a modern city, is called Penjikent, which means in Tajik "five villages", and gave life to the glorious city no less than 5500 years ago, according to scientists. Later on visiting the Sarazm ancient settlment and the Penjikent antiques museum. Lunch on the shore of the Zerafshan river. After lunch, tour in the Penjikent city.

D 5 / Ancient settlement of Penjikent - Shing

After breakfast we drive to the Seven lakes, a territory in the Fan mountains with 7 beautiful lakes! Arrival to the homestay. Later start trekking to Odildara peak (3450 m, 10-12 km, 3-4 h). Overnight at the homestay.

D 6 / Shing - Shing

After breakfast hiking to the 7th lake (2400 m, 13 km, 4-5 h). Picnic on the shore of Hazor Cahshma. Optional after picnic hiking to the summer pastures (+8 km, 3 h). Driving back to Shing. Rest and relax at homestay in Shing. Dinner and overnight at homestay.

D 7 / Shing - Yakkahona

After breakfast drive to Yakkahona village. After lunch optional short hike to Chukurak lake(2560 m, 900 m, 3 h). Overnight in the homestay.

D 8 / Yakkahona - Yakkahona

After breakfast day hiking to amazing Kuli kalon lakes along Ujram river. (2850 m, -9 km, 3h). Return to the base camp and overnight in the homestay

Remarks:

Since July 27, 2012, the visa is not any more required for the persons of Swiss, EU, US, Canadian and Japanese nationalities (in total 44 new countries, for more information visit www.nomadsland.kg); passport should be with minimum of 6 months validity for period of 60 days maximum. Vaccination is not mandatory.

This is a draft program. It can be changed due to changes of flight schedules, safetely reasons, weather conditions and others imponderable or unforeseen conditions. Only our tour guide is authorized to take the necessary decisions. Prices are calculated daily and are subject to change in case of wide fluctuations in prices or exchange rates.

Though Kyrgyzstan evidenced caravans over 3000 years it is still a young developing country and infrastructure of villages is not at a very high level. Refusing hospitality might be offensive and in order to avoid misunderstanding one had better to read some guidebooks and other books about Kyrgyzstan before getting prepared to visit.
